A 30-year History of Freebird Footwear Exporter

Taiwan is a result of two massive migrants from China. The first one took place in the late 19th century when people from the Fukien province in southern China left their home towns struck by poverty to look for a better life. The second one took place at the end of the Second World War when Nationalist Party (known as KMT) fled to Taiwan after being defeated by the Communist Party. Before that, Taiwan went through 50 years of Japanese occupation. The aborigines are the authentic inhabitants in Taiwan who have lived on this small island for at least several hundred years. The KMT knew very well that manufacturing and infrastructure would be the two main things to focus on while they prepared to “fight back” again. Taiwan's economic prosperity from the 70s throughout the 90s was based on a nation with excellent labor force and clear governmental guidance on manufacturing and trade.

With this historic background, Free Bird Enterprise was established in a historic district of Taipei city in 1982 by an honest and hard-working businessman, Mr. Chang, who witnessed the economic boom and the period when Taiwan was the Kingdom of Shoe-making.
During the "golden years" when the imprint "Made in Taiwan" was seen in countless products shipped around the world from Taiwan in the 60's and 70's, our founder, Mr. Zhang, worked at one of the leading trading companies, following the clients' requests to trade in all sorts of commodities. The loaded containers departed from Kaohsiung and Keelung harbors every day. The phenomenon led Taiwan into a prosperity period.
In the early 80's Mr. Zhang felt the need of specializing in one category of products and decided to establish his own company with a passion for quality shoes and attention to satisfactory client service. We started working with footwear manufacturers and workshops in Taiwan and reached out to China in the 90's Right now, we have a good-size quality inspection team working in different provinces in China and the head office in Taiwan.
In the early 90's Mr. Zhang had an insight of working directly with factories run by mainland Chinese, while many of Taiwanese businessmen in China still dealt with factories run by managers from his own country. His decision helped the company go through an economic downturn that later hit many factories in the Chinese coast region.

Throughout the years, a solid foundation was built. Our rich experiences of working with Japanese clients have enabled us to set a high standard for ourselves and use it as a benchmark to work with our suppliers. This principal is instilled deeply in the mind-set of everyone working in this team. Most of them have been with the company for more than 20 years.

We are now reaching out of our "comfort zone" and exploring more business opportunities outside of the Far East.

We believe that trust-worthy is the only way to maintain a long-term business relationship with our clients. If you are looking for a reliable OEM shoes partner in the Far East, feel free to contact us. We’d be more than happy to hear from you.
